Jamhuuriya University of Science and Technology (JUST) was proudly represented at the First Regional Ministerial Conference on the East African Common Higher Education Area (EACHEA) by its Vice President for Academic Affairs, Eng. Abdirizak Warsame Abdulle.

The conference, held in Uganda, from 9–11 September 2025, brought together regional leaders, ministers of education, and higher education executives from across the East African Community (EAC). It was jointly organized by the EAC Forum for CEOs of Higher Education Councils and Commissions and the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA).

Key Focus Areas

The conference engaged participants in high-level discussions on transformative issues aimed at strengthening the East African higher education ecosystem, including:

• Student and staff mobility across regional institutions

• Harmonization of qualifications and academic frameworks

• Facilitation of education-related visas

• Improving quality assurance and academic standards

• Fostering joint research and innovation

• Strengthening inter-university partnerships and collaboration

JUST’s Role and Commitment

JUST’s participation reflects its ongoing dedication to advancing regional education policies and fostering cross-border collaboration. Eng. Abdirizak actively contributed to discussions on integrating Somali higher education institutions into regional networks and expanding opportunities for academic cooperation.
